Something called a Ford Windstar which is a new one to me. Polish plates and seems to be lived in as it’s packed with belongings. Despite the appearance it wasn’t there last week.

Ford Windstars are notoriously terrible. Tons of recalls, Ford considered a complete buy back of them a few years back it was getting so bad.

My wife and I found a brand new Prius C in a thrift store parking lot that was clearly being lived in... We were stunned. I mean it was immaculate, waxed, licensed, but the interior resembled a full dumpster.

Is it parked next to a dust factory? Damn that looks bad for just one week.

Definitely the least ugly minivan of its era. I’m surprised you hadn’t even heard of it before now, though.

My mom had one of these. What a piece of shit. It was constantly breaking down, had blind spots the size of a moderate country, and the transmission didn’t seem to like to shift. She only had it for a while before trading it in. I think we bought it when it was a year old or so and sold it within a year of that.

It seems like a trend...This was taken last year at the Baltimore Train Station. It was abandoned.

Have the front/rear subframe & axle recalls been performed? You can tell easily, should be black brackets and epoxy on the rear axle & control arms. If the rust/corrosion was bad enough you may not have brackets/epoxy, dealer may of replaced the axle, control arms, and upper strut mounts with updated parts. 3rd row seat child restraint recall, check that too. It involves a complete tear down in the rear, its a pain. Also it could of had a torque converter recall, cruise control recall, abs recall. Thats all I can remember about the windstars and their recalls.
Also, check the transfluid/filter. If it’s clean i’d change them. If not, and the trans has high miles leave it. The friction material in the transmission drum/band is bad to break down. It’s better to leave the old fluid with the friction material from the drum/band floating around in the trans then to drain it and put new trans fluid in. You could end up with slippage once you drain the old dirty fluid along with the friction material. Check the intake for leaks/cracks. Ford updated the parts, if it’s been previously replaced you should be golden!

I used to own one. It had plenty of issues but it always ran which is all you want from a cheap piece of crap utility/winter beater. It eventually had to go because of a WAF issue. My wife hated it with a passion.

I used to like these back in the day... Till the freestar came out and ruined my day.

Not sold outside North America so far as I know. As to how the Polish owner got it, I don’t know. Our biggest Ford is the Galaxy which isn’t a big seller. There’s no viable market for anything bigger.

It’s under a sports stadium that’s being demolished from the other end. Possibly it had been parked elsewhere and moved as demolition progressed. It’s got Polish plates so maybe the owner is working there. That’s the kind of work Polish guys do, the women work in coffee shops.

I think I’ll pass on a lhd American Ford full of someone else’s junk and no parts availability thanks.
I’d be surprised if any recalls had been done given that it’s a long way from any Ford dealer who would ever have heard of it!

You were better off not seeing it. Those things were pretty much junk, even by the standards of ‘90s minivans. I’m surprised someone took the trouble to ship one across the Atlantic.
